Request an Interlibrary Loan
Mount Royal's Interlibrary Loan / Document Delivery (ILL) staff will attempt to obtain library materials not available from our resources.
In addition, faculty, staff and students may borrow in person at many Alberta libraries. One advantage of borrowing directly from the University of Calgary, rather than through ILL, is that books may be renewed.
Eligibility
ILL service is available to Mount Royal University faculty, currently-enrolled students and staff only.
If you require these services but are not a member of the Mount Royal University community, please contact your local public library, your academic institution's library or organization's library.
Requesting
Request an item
Make sure you check our periodicals list for journal/magazine/periodical titles and our catalog for books before asking us to bring in articles and books from out of town. We do not bring in items that the Mount Royal Library owns.
Please note: Copyright regulations require that copies obtained from this service be used only for private study or research.
CAUTION: Delivery times can vary from three days to over three weeks.
If you have already registered, please go directly to the Request an Item page to obtain books and copies of articles or chapters not held by Mount Royal University. You will be notified by automated e-mail both when your request is received and when your item arrives.

If you have not yet registered to use Mount Royal's Interlibrary Loan Services, please click the above link and complete the form.
After your initial registration, you will be able to request books and articles immediately. You will also be able to request articles from our "Find your Article!" page and books retrieved in a TAL search.
Important tips:
- Experiencing problems? If the forms are down, please e-mail your bibliographic and contact information to illacmr@mtroyal.ca or, if you experience other difficulties with the above sites, e-mail illacmr@mtroyal.ca with a detailed explanation of the problem. You may also pick up a paper ILL request form at the Library's Information Desk and deliver it to the Library's Information Desk or the ILL assistant, room G201.
- Faculty and staff, please indicate your department name so that article copies can be sent to you by internal mail.
- Pick up and drop off books at the MRU Library Circulation Desk.
- Do not remove the wrapper, as we need the barcode to discharge the book from your account. Overdue fines will accumulate if the book is not discharged by the due date.
- Registered users may check on the status of their requests or ask for renewals by logging in to the Interlibrary Loan Web Request Forms.
- For more information, please call 403-440-6133 or 403-440-6793, or email illacmr@mtroyal.ca
