Audio-visual equipment

  • Audio-visual equipment is available to faculty, staff and students involved in teaching and learning at Mount Royal University.
  • Regular classrooms are equipped with overhead projector and screen.
  • All equipment must be picked up and returned to the Library Service Desk
  • Classroom and Event Support  - 403.440.6000

Booking equipment and DVDs / videos

  • Faculty - Contact the Library Service Desk at libcirc@mtroyal.ca to book equipment or audio-visual materials. Please give 48 hours notice to ensure availabilty
    • Equipment - Include the following in your email: 
      • Date/time of pick up and return
      • Equipment needed
      • Other relevant information
    • DVDs / videos - Include the following in your email:
      • Title and call number of video 
      • Dates of pick up and return (no longer than one week)
      • If you are requesting U of Calgary video please include that information
  • Students -  Make bookings in person at the Service Desk

Guidelines for borrowing A/V equipment

  • Audio-visual equipment is loaned to anyone involved in the teaching and learning activities of Mount Royal University
  • Students may borrow equipment for class assignments only, and must present a valid student I.D. card
  • Loan periods of different types of equipment vary to accommodate demands
  • Block booking equipment for a semester is permitted for instructors as required
  • Please cancel unneeded bookings

Films in the classroom

  • Faculty and instructors are free to show VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray videos to students in the classroom, provided the video is being shown for an educational purpose.
    • This use does not have to be recorded or reported.
  • Videos from online video sites such as YouTube may also be shown in the classroom, although videos which are obviously infringing or pirated copies should be avoided.

Fines

  • DVDs / videos - $1 / day are charged for the late return of videos or DVDs
    • replacement costs (including fees for Public Performance Rights) are charged in the cases of damage or loss
  • Equipment - Fines are charged for the late return of any A/V equipment.
    • replacement costs are charged for damaged or lost equipment

Equipment for loan

Come in a set of 42 and provide interactive classroom instruction. Faculty can receive training from ADC (403.440.6042). Students must have their instructor book clickers for classroom use.
Digital video cameras and digital still cameras are available. Cameras may be used with a tripod. They can be loaned to students for a maximum 24-hour period. User should supply their own SD memory card. Images may be downloaded / edited at Media Productions (Room T115). Please contact Media Productions (403.440.6564) to book a time.
For display of posters and/or signage.
Please supply your own paper and markers
Laptops are available, and may be connected to an LCD projector which will enable your computer image (eg. PowerPoint presentation) to be projected onto a screen. All laptops have wireless capability. Students may borrow laptops for an overnight loan. These are signed out on a first come/first served basis. Late fines are $5/hour. All laptops are loaded with standard university software.
Standard accessories include a slide carousel and remote control.
Commonly used to advance PowerPoint presentation slides, allowing the ability to move around the classroom during a presentation.
To be used if necessary with a digital camera. A tripod will allow a steadier image.
Available for use in classrooms for audio-visual playback.
Available for off campus use.
