Narrowing your topic

How do you narrow down the topic of bio-cultural interaction?

  1. Focus on a component of bio-cultural interaction: body modification, vaccinations, dietary adaptations (past/present), modernization & diseases, lactose intolerance, skin colour and cultural preference, evolution of vision

  2. Think about case studies: where have you seen this discussed?

  3. Be more specific about context: what part of the world? When? What cultural group? What gender? What age?

Article Searching Tips

Finding too much?

  • Use AND between ideas to search for BOTH terms
  • Put “Quotation Marks Around Your Search" to search for exact phrases

Finding too little?

  • Use OR between your ideas to search for EITHER term
  • Put * after the root of a word to look for multiple endings

For better searching, think of multiple ways to describe your topic
