Hominin Journal Article Guideline
The assignment in this course is designed to enhance your knowledge in paleoanthropology via a peer-reviewed academic journal article and to enhance your skills in information retrieval and referencing.
STEP 1:
PRELIMINARY WORK - FIND AN ARTICLE, READ IT
You will search for and find a peer-reviewed journal article that fits the following criteria:
- It must be from a peer-reviewed journal. (How do I find peer reviewed articles in LibrarySearch?)
- It must have a paleoanthropological focus that includes the discovery and/or analysis of skeletal or dental remains from (a) hominin(s) (e.g., Australopithecus/Genus Homo).
- The find(s) described in the article must be dated between ~5 million years ago to 20 thousand years ago
Read the article and locate interesting info/a fun fact you wish to report on.
STEP 2:
APA REFERENCE STYLE APPLICATION
For the purposes of this assignment, an abbreviated set of guidelines with images are given on your D2L site.
STEP 3:
ANSWER GIVEN QUESTIONS - THE ASSIGNMENT-QUIZ.
- Note the author/s, date, journal name, volume, issue, page range etc. for your selected article.
- Accurately format a reference entry for your journal article using the APA style guide (Author, Date, Title, Retrieval Info). Carefully prepare this ahead. All formatting details must be accurate (e.g., journal name in italics, capitalization, use of "&" etc.).
- Paraphrase an important finding noted in the article in 3-5 sentences (interesting info/fact you learned) including an in-text citation following the APA citation style (Author/s, date, page/s). Apply your knowledge to format the citation for your specific article and interesting fact citation.
STEP 4:
