What is an Article Database?

An article database allows you to find magazine, newspaper and journal articles on your topic quickly and efficiently.  It often includes hundreds or even thousands of titles covering many years of issues for each title.

LibrarySearch

You can search LibrarySearch to look for books, videos, newspapers, magazines, and journals by using the search box below.

Refine your search by selecting Resource Type, then Articles on the right-hand side of the page.

Individual Article Databases

You can also search individual databases.  Here are a few that might be helpful:

LibrarySearch Tips

Looking for articles?

  • Refine your search by selecting Resource Type, then Articles on the right-hand side of the page

Finding too much?

  • Put “Quotation Marks Around Your Search" to search for exact phrases
  • For example: "Calgary Stampede"

Finding too little?

  • Use OR between your ideas to search for EITHER term (OR must be in capitals)
  • Put * after the root of a word to look for multiple endings
  • For example: (argu* OR debat*)

For better searching, think of multiple ways to describe your topic
