Pickup of hold requests is available 24/7 for MRU students and employees outside of regular Service Desk hours.
Pick Up a Hold Request
Self Pickup - 24-hour BookBox
Current MRU students and employees can request a self-serve pickup of eligible hold items 24/7 at the Library BookBox located on the 1st floor of the RLLC. When placing a hold on an item in LibrarySearch, select the “Self Pickup - 24-hour BookBox” option. You’ll be notified when your item is ready for pickup. Tap your OneCard to access the RLLC after hours and scan your barcode to retrieve your items from the BookBox.
Equipment Bookings
Equipment, kits, oversized items and MRU employee laptops are available for 24/7 convenience pickup from the lockers located on the 1st floor of the RLLC. After reserving your item through the Library’s equipment booking page, fill out the Convenience Pickup form. You’ll receive an email notification with instructions on how to retrieve your items once the request has been processed.

If you have requested equipment, kits, large items or an MRU employee laptop, your item must be picked up from a Library Locker. Fill out the Convenience Pickup form to request a 24/7 hold for your item.

Laptops (Faculty & Staff)*
Faculty and staff laptops are eligible for convenience pickup at a Library Locker. Fill out the Convenience Pickup form to request a hold for your item.
*Note: Student laptops are available on a first come, first served basis at the Library Service Desk.
CDs and DVDs
Available for self pickup at the 1st floor Library BookBox.
Oversized Items
Available for convenience pickup at a Library Locker. Fill out the Convenience Pickup form after you have placed a regular hold on the item.
Kits
Available for convenience pickup at a Library Locker. Fill out the Convenience Pickup form after you have placed a regular hold on the item.
Note: Items that have been requested without completing the Convenience Pickup Form will be available for pickup at the Library Service Desk during open hours. The Self Pickup - 24-hour BookBox option will only appear in LibrarySearch for materials eligible for self pickup.
Pick-Up Instructions
Self Pickup - 24-hour BookBox
- After selecting the Self Pickup - 24-hour BookBox option in LibrarySearch, wait for an email that notifies you when your items are ready for pickup.
- After receiving an email notification, visit the Library BookBox on the 1st floor of the RLLC, across from the Library Service Desk and next to the printing room.
- Scan your OneCard on the front of the BookBox and retrieve your items. Items taken out of the BookBox are automatically checked out to your account.
- Return your BookBox hold items to one of our regular book returns situated outside of each Library entrance, inside the main entrance of the Library, or inside of the West Gate entrance.
Equipment Bookings, Large Items & Kits
- After completing the Convenience Pickup Form, wait to receive an email that notifies you when your items are ready for pickup.
- After receiving an email notification, visit the Library 24/7 to retrieve your items from the day use lockers located on the main level, across from the restrooms. Your OneCard is required to tap into the RLLC outside of our regular hours.
- Your assigned locker and passcode information will be listed in your notification email.
- To enter your passcode on the locker pinpad, press ‘C’ and enter the provided code, then press the key symbol.
- Leave the locker unlocked after you retrieve your items.
Drop Off Instructions
Contactless Drop Off
Large items, kits, and equipment can be returned to a day-use locker located on the 1st floor of the RLLC, across from the main washrooms.
Once the item is locked in a day-use locker (instructions are inside the locker door), email libcirc@mtroyal.ca or text 587-400-8044 with the locker number and code.
If entering the RLLC outside of Service Desk hours, you will need an active OneCard to tap into the building.
Service Desk Drop Off
All items can be dropped off at the Library Service Desk during regular open hours.
Book/CD/DVD Return
Books, CDs and DVDs can be returned to the Library book return bins situated outside of each RLLC entrance, inside the main entrance of the RLLC, or inside of the West Gate entrance.
