MRU enters agreement with ACM to support open access publishing

Mount Royal University Library has joined a new national agreement with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), effective July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028.

This agreement allows MRU-affiliated corresponding authors to publish eligible articles in ACM journals and conference proceedings without paying Article Processing Charges (APCs). While this agreement is in place through 2028, renewal will depend on national negotiations and institutional budgets.

Scope of eligible publications

  • Research articles, review articles, short papers, survey articles, technical notes, tutorials, interviews, case studies, and notes

  • ACM Books are excluded from this agreement

What authors need to know

  • The MRU researcher must be the corresponding author

  • A valid MRU email and ORCID are required at submission

  • Authors retain copyright and may select a Creative Commons license (CC-BY or CC-BY-NC-ND)

Beginning January 2026, ACM will make its entire journal portfolio openly available to the public via the ACM Digital Library. MRU’s participation provides our community with access to the enhanced Premium Digital Library during the agreement term.

Please note: This agreement does not make previously published ACM content open access. Authors interested in making earlier work available can explore options such as self-archiving or depositing work in MRU’s repository - contact your subject librarian to find out more.
