Assignment

a) Needs Assessment and Environmental Scan

  • Conduct research to understand the needs of vulnerable youth in the community, using interviews, surveys, focus groups, and/or secondary data analysis.
  • Conduct an environmental scan to map out existing services and to determine where the greatest needs are.
  • The report and scan will be assessed on depth of research, inclusion of diverse perspectives, relevance to the target population, and alignment with community feedback.

  • Academic and non-academic conference presentations
  • Theses and dissertations
  • White papers
  • Blogs and newsletters
  • Written by practitioners or professionals

Unlike scholarly journals, trade publications do not contain original research and are meant to be practical in nature. Their focus is on current practices and issues.
