Book Spaces

In keeping with our mission, the Library spaces in the Riddell Library and Learning Centre are designed to support the learning, teaching, and scholarship-related activities of our students, staff, faculty, and community.

Bookable

Group Rooms

  • Collaborative spaces for 3-5 people, depending on selected room
  • Featured televisions with the ability to connect and display from personal devices (laptops, smarthphones)

Hybrid Group Rooms

  • Sapces for 8-10 people, ideal for hybrid groups (online & in-person)
  • Room technology includes 98" television as well as built in microphones, speakers and cameras

Data Hub

  • 3 PC stations with software intended for analyzing, collecting, managing, storing and publishing data
  • Support and expertise for these stations is provided by the Data Librarian

VR Lab

  • C2 PC stations with Virtual Reality headsets and software
  • Support from Library specialists is available on request

Audio Production Rooms

  • Ideal for podcast production, conducting/recording interviews and editing audio files
  • Microphones and headphones can be borrowed from Service Desk

Drop-in

Computer Commons

  • Open area on the 1st floor of the library with an assortment of public workstations, featuring:
  • Adobe | Refinitiv | Bloomberg

Quiet Reading Rooms

  • Located on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the library, these spaces are intended for individual study

Maker Studio

  • Access tools and technology that allow for learning, creation and design of physical and digital products
  • Hosts individuals and classes as well as specialized presentations and workshops

Request

Ideas Lounge

  • Featuring a wall-sized screen and in ceiling microphones
  • Host events and presentations such as public lectures, exhibits, workshops and other interactive showcases

Immersion Studio

  • This space allows for projection of images, videos and information on all four walls of the room at the same time
  • Create unique 360 experiences for teaching, learning and research

Visualization Classroom

  • A private space featuring a wall-sized screen
  • Ideal for hosting classes, presentations and workshops

Archives & Special Collections

  • Archival records and publications relating to the history of Mount Royal University, as well as other collections that support teaching and research
  • Currently available by appointment only

The Atrium

  • Large open space located outside and adjacent to the Ideas Lounge
  • Can be booked as an extension of the Ideas Lounge or a central stand-alone space

Formal Boardroom

  • Perfect for meetings and receptions, this stunning and centrally-located boardroom features four screens and teleconferencing capabilities

Showcase & Exhibit Space

  • A flexible, open environment located on the quieter 4th floor and is ideal for exhibits
  • It is located adjacent to the Formal Boardroom and can be used concurrently with that room

  • Access tools and technology that allow for learning, creation and design of physical and digital products
  • Hosts individuals and classes as well as specialized presentations and workshops

The Bubble

  • A glass-enclosed space located on the 3rd floor of the library near the Fireplace Lounge
  • Perfect for smaller gatherings or informal lectures and can also be booked with the Immersion Studio
