How to Turn On Vive Cosmos (when desktop is off or asleep)

Why would you do this: If the monitor and headset are showing black screens when you arrive

  1. Turn on the desktop, by pressing the round button on the tower (located left of the cd drive).
  2. Ensure the monitor is on.
  3. Log into the desktop. Once logged in, open the SteamVR app using the shortcut on the desktop. Login if necessary.
  4. Make sure that headset is connected to the computer via the link box. Ensure there is a green light on on the link box. If not, press the blue button.  For troubleshooting visit this guide from Vive: Connecting the headset to your computer.
  5. Turn the controllers on by pressing the Vive button on them. For troubleshooting see this guide from Vive: Turning the controllers on or off.
  6. Check that VIVE hardware is being tracked. The status icons on the SteamVR app for the Headset and each controller should be blue and the status lights on the hardware should all be green. Note: the status icon appears on the bottom of the screen in the middle. There is a small headset cartoon image and two small controller cartoons on either side.
  7. Launch Vive Console using the desktop shortcut.
  8. VR should now be ready to use.
